Summer starts here*

We’ve had a balmy start to the summer, so hopefully edible seedlings swapped at our AGM (or Freecycled afterwards) are now romping away in your gardens.  If you’re looking for timely tips on tending your veg patch, check out the June Grow your own advice sheet, which includes weeding, watering and defending from pests – for more tips on water use, and a water energy calculator, visit the Energy Saving Trust website.  And if you fancy a barbecue, remember to buy sustainably produced British lumpwood charcoal – read why on the BBC Bloom website.

Fifteen of us enjoyed a fantastic foraging walk in May and there’s two more planned this year – with plenty of time to practise in between.  Check out our events page for future happenings, with the first up being the Marches – see you there!

And we’re currently busy working on events for Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight in September - this is a great opportunity for local food businesses to work together to convey what a fabulous range of local food is available in and around Linlithgow – please get in touch asap if you haven’t already done so or read more about our aims.

We have also just become an official Transition initiative, so we hope to learn from other inspiring examples around the world – food & gardening are favourite topics of Transition folk!

* including a full range of Scottish summer weather!
