Sat 4th-Sun 19th Sept, Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight – we’ll be promoting events hosted by local food producers and outlets – see separate page for more information, with events including:

Mon 6th Sept, Seed Saving Talk with Mathew Love of East Kilbride Development Trust, 7.30-9.30pm at Linlithgow Climate Challenge office at Police Court, donations welcome, max attendees 20, no booking required. There are many reasons why saving seed from edible plants is important – retaining locally adapted seed strains & traditional varieties, the importance of seed sovereignty and having the skills to save seed from your own crops.  Includes a short seed-saving workshop and the chance to ask questions, suitable for experienced veg growers as well as those looking to ‘grow’ their fruit & veg skills.

Thur 9th Sept, 7.30-9pm, Vegetarian Cookery Demonstration with Catriona Staddon of Hyndberry, featuring produce from Taste, The Millstone & My Local 5 a Day.  Cost £7, tickets must be bought in advance, available via Taste, The Millstone & My Local 5 a Day, max 30 attendees.

Mon 20th Sept Talk on Community Supported Agriculture 2.30-4.30pm at Donaldson’s School, Preston Road. 

The session will be led by Mick Marston who is a CSA Regional Development Officer for the Soil Association.  Mick works with a range of CSAs in England will use this experience to  cover the following topics:

  • What is a CSA is and what any CSA should have as its core principles
  • Different models in operation in England/abroad which could stimulate thinking
  • Things to consider when setting up a CSA
  • Building a financially sustainable CSA

 Mon 20th Sept ‘To Bee or Not To Bee’ a bee-themed evening, including talks by Graeme Sharpe of the Scottish Agricultural College and local beekeeper G Henderson, plus the chance to meet other local beekeepers, and updates on other activities and events at this Linlithgow Climate Challenge public General Meeting - 7.30-9.30pm at the Low Port Centre, donations welcome in support of our food related projects - all welcome!

Sept 25th, 3-6pm Harvest Feast in the grounds of Clarendon House, Manse Road, in partnership with Slow Food Linlithgow – fantastic community meal, outdoor games and celebration of local produce – tickets now on sale via Blast- off Books, The Linlithgow Bookshop, Epulum and The Line Gallery, cost £7 adults, £3 children, under three free

Sept 25th, 7-11pm Community Ceilidh following the Feast in the marquee at Clarendon House, hosted by Linlithgow Climate Challenge and the Linlithgow & Linlithgow Bridge Town Centre Management Group, tickets available via Blast- off Books, The Linlithgow Bookshop, Epulum and The Line Gallery, cost £8

We are also still looking for folk to track (and reduce!) their food waste via our Kitchen Canny project, in partnership with Changeworks - great to get families thinking about what they buy, cook and eat – less food waste means saving money! – please get in touch if you’re interested
