Getting kids gardening sets them on the road to appreciating nature, eating healthy, fresh fruit & veg – and learning in a completely different way.

Most schools are now part of the Eco-Schools project, this year with a potato growing competition with a deadline of the 5th Feb, although the free spuds are first come first served.  The Eco-Schools Scotland Resource Finder may help you track down resources, funding or practical help

The Tree Council offers 75% grants to schools and community groups planting trees with under 16 year olds – deadline 31st March.

The RHS Campaign for School Gardening now has 10,000 registered schools, offering a benchmark scheme to chart your school’s progress, information and resource suppot and discussion forums

Grounds for Learning helps Scottish schools and nurseries make the most of their outdoor spaces, there is a membership fee but also plenty of free resources online.  Being targetted at Scotland means that information and advice is seasonally adjusted to suit this location.
