There is currently no local, official garden share scheme, although allotment group LADAS are happy to advertise growing space to its members.
Landshare, a garden sharing project rather than allotments, started by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall of River Cottage matches those with spare land with those who’d like to grow on it.
The Edinburgh Garden Share Scheme aims to unite those who want to grow with those with space to do so, particularly elderly or disabled garden owners who may not be able to keep on top of their gardens. Gardeners need to provide two references and have a disclosure check, and there are two full time project officers.
