Community gardens can take various forms, from allotments under another name to shared growing projects involving a wide range of local residents and groups – these are just a few links – feel free to suggest more, or indeed areas in Linlithgow you think could benefit from just such a project!

Burgh Beautiful is the gardening arm of Linlithgow Civic Trust and always welcomes new volunteers. The group looks after various borders and containers around town and in 2009 won a Silver award in the Medium Town category of the Beautiful Scotland awards.
Various patches of land around town are owned by West Lothian Council - if you’d like to use them for growing, there’s no harm in asking!
NHS Lothian has committed to making surplus land available for community growing at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Morningside, working with the Cyrenians, aiming to address mental health issues as well as reducing the waiting list for allotments
The Cyrenians Farm near Kirknewton is a part of a charity addressing homelessness and social inclusion, with residents growing organic fruit & veg, raising chickens and selling produce via Balerno farmers’ market.
