Guerrilla gardening is basically spotting unloved bits of land (however small) and growing either ornamental or edible plants on them. Sometimes folk do this at night time, sometimes projects grow so much that Councils adopt them. We don’t know of much guerrilla action in Linlithgow (although there are a few nut trees along the canal……) – please let us know if you spot any or would like to get guerrillaing yourself.
The Incredible Edible project in Todmorden started with a small group of folk planting edibles in unlikely places – and now the Council and whole town are on board. The group has also inspired Incredible Edible Doncaster North.
Since Oct 2004 Richard Reynolds has been taking guerrilla action in London, with a growing army folk who want to see precious public spaces better used (I particularly fancy a planted shopping trolley….)
Edinburgh Community Gardening Activists have an active blog
Transition Edinburgh South have an active food, gardening and tree group, including guerrilla gardening events
This Guerrilla Gardening discussion group helps like minded souls meet up and get guerrillering
West Lothian Council’s Open Space Strategy acknowledges the importance of our open spaces, but deals mainly with larger areas of land.
